CADS Calgary Awards

Each year, CADS Calgary recognizes a number of members and volunteers who have contributed in many and varied ways to the promotion and development of disabled skiing and boarding in Calgary. Nominations for this year’s awards are due by Sat., Feb. 12, 2011. For more information or questions, email awards@cadscalgary.ca.

Nominations can be scanned and emailed to info@cadscalgary.ca or handed in at the Info Table at COP on the remaining two lesson nights (Feb. 11 and Feb. 12).

The award categories are:

  • Volunteer of the Year – presented to someone who has given a great deal of themselves during the season.
  • Instructor of the Year – presented to an instructor who has given a great deal of themselves to the program and has demonstrated the ability to further their student’s skiing/boarding skills.
  • Ted Rhodes Award – presented to a disabled student who not only shows good progress but also promotes the program.
  • Grant Myren Memorial Award – presented to a new instructor who demonstrates good instruction, a positive attitude and a dedication to the program.

CADS Alberta Awards

CADS Alberta also has a number of awards to present to members each year for recognition at the provincial level. Click here for the nomination form. The nomination deadline is April 1, 2011.

Nominations are collected from local CADS programs for the following awards:

  • Eileen Lloyd Award – presented to a female disabled member of CADS Alberta who is participating in the Learn-to-Ski or Ski Improvement program. It is awarded on the basis of improvement in ability and sportsmanship.
  • John Hanson Award – presented to a male disabled member of CADS Alberta in the Learn-to-Ski or Ski Improvement program. It is awarded on the basis of improvement in skiing ability and sportsmanship.
  • Volunteer of the Year – presented to a volunteer member of CADS Alberta who has provided outstanding swervice to the organization. Their contributions may be either on the hill or off, but have had a significant impact on either a local or provincial program.
  • Coach of the Year – presented to a coach participating at the local program level who has provided a significant contribution to the program.
  • Instructor of the Year – presented to an instructor participating at a local program level who has provided a significant contribution to the program.

CADS National Awards

Nominations are also being collected for a number of CADS National Awards, which will be presented at the Festival in Kimberley this March. The nomination deadline is Monday, February 14, 2011.

The national award categories are:

  • Administrator of the Year – This award is given to the person who has demonstrated outstanding administrative qualities and actions for a division/zone (meeting deadlines, getting things done and ensuring things run smoothly).
  • Volunteer of the Year – This person has given a great deal of themselves to CADS during the season in any capacity.
  • Disabled Skier/Snowboarder of the Year – A member who has improved their skiing/boarding skills during the season to a great extent.
  • Karl Hilzinger Award – This award is given to the person who has given exceptional service to CADS for many years.
  • President’s Award – An award decided upon by the president, and given for service to CADS.
  • Ski Coach of the Year
  • Ski Area of the Year
  • Division Sponsor of the Year
