Missing a Lesson Weather Policy Resources Partnership Program

Mountain Trips

Each year, CADS Calgary organizes one or two optional day trips to Nakiska as an extension of the regular lesson program. Students who meet the eligibility criteria and receive approval from their group supervisor(s) may register for the trips. The cost for these day trips is additional; they are not included in the regular lesson fee.

The 2011 day trips are scheduled for Saturday, March 5 and Saturday, March 12.

Registration forms and waivers must be completed and turned in, along with payment, on Friday, Feb. 11 or Saturday, Feb. 12 at COP.

To participate in the trips, students must be capable of spending a full day in a mountain environment and must meet the following qualifications:

  • Able to load and unload the COP chair lift with minimal difficulty.
  • Able to ski from the top of COP under most snow and weather conditions.
  • Able to ski independently and unaided (tether may be permitted for safety reasons).
  • Possess the ability and demonstrated behaviour to act appropriately and participate in the program for a full day.

The trip organizers do their very best to match students to qualified and appropriate instructors but reserve the right to deny participation if: an appropriate match for a student cannot be made, if behavior is anticipated to be an issue, or if safety becomes compromised.

Bus transportation is provided with priority given to students and volunteer instructors. Lift tickets may be pre-ordered for family members and friends. CADS cannot provide supervision for family members (including siblings) and friends. Any family members and friends attending the trip must be supervised separately.
